This is the first really new textbook since the 1980's. What is new is not that it covers materia medica, but that it explains materia medica in the context of internal medicine. As you read each monograph the chapter introductions and sections explaining the normal function, pathomechanisms, clinical concepts and pathologies related to the medicinal category will have prepared you to achieve maximum understanding and memorability. The accompanying CD-ROM will reinforce learning through self-test questions designed to make your study efficient by indicating what materials require further study. The CD-ROM also contains a database application containing the core data for each medicinal studied, an image of it as a high-grade decoction piece, and clinical notes. The application has a text-editable notes facility that can be use to store and display, your own notes, notes shared with others, or curriculum provided by instructors who adopt the text.
